CESM2 SMYLE Multi-decadal Prediction Project
d651081
The CESM2 MDP (MultiDecadal Prediction) dataset is an initialized prediction system using CESM2. It consists of fully coupled initialized hindcast simulations using CESM2 component models at nominal 1 degree horizontal resolution. Hindcasts are initialized on November 1st from historical reconstructions (SMYLE-FOSI for ocean and sea-ice; Forced land only for land; and JRA55 reanalysis for atmosphere) and then integrated forward 242-months. Initialization occurs every 5 years from 1960 to 2015. The ensemble size is 10 for each start date, with ensemble spread introduced through a random field perturbation applied to the atmospheric initial conditions. The CESM2 MDP dataset is the multidecadal companion to the seasonal-to-multiyear CESM2 SMYLE (DOI: 10.26024/PWMA-RE41 [https://gdex.ucar.edu/datasets/d651065/]).
